Consumer-driven energy transitions, powered by data
RASA simulates how real households adopt low-carbon technologies in real-world conditions, across diverse climates, incomes, housing types, and demographics. We help deliver equitable, just, and realistic transition pathways.

We enable governments, utilities, and private actors to make evidence-based decisions by simulating how households adopt low-carbon energy technologies in real-world conditions.
We enable evidence-based decisions for the residential transition
From targets to lived realities
Our consumer-level modelling solution bridges the gap between high-level decarbonisation targets and the on-the-ground constraints that shape household energy choices.
Local context
Explore live geospatial scenarios with Transition Zero.
Geospatial detail
Up to 1 km² resolution for energy behaviour and constraints.
Technology mix
Heat pumps, solar PV, insulation, hydrogen heating, and more.
Just transition
Design policies that are both effective and socially equitable.

What is RASA?
RASA, originally developed within the MUSE-RASA framework, is an advanced simulation engine designed to model the decisions of household energy consumers. It recognises that households are not «average» and models decisions using behavioural rules, socioeconomic data, and spatial analytics.
Built on agent-based modelling and geospatial artificial intelligence, RASA simulates how people adopt technologies like heat pumps, solar PV, insulation, or hydrogen heating across diverse geographies, incomes, and housing types — and links these decisions to system-level energy and emissions trajectories.
Traditional models vs. RASA
Traditional: a single optimal representative consumer.
RASA: millions of heterogeneous households with different constraints and behaviours.
RASA connects micro-level decisions to macro system outcomes, making it one of the most sophisticated models developed for the residential energy transition.
Ready for optimisation & AI
RASA can be coupled with optimisation solvers and AI-based learning (e.g. Pyomo, GAMS) to identify cost-effective, robust decarbonisation pathways.
Barriers we model
• Fragmented ownership & building stock
• High upfront costs & low awareness
• Regional & climatic variation
How RASA helps
RASA simulates not just technologies, but people and places — showing how policies, incentives, and technology adoption play out on the ground.
Who we serve
ATUK supports a wide range of actors working toward decarbonisation of the residential sector.
Develop net-zero housing strategies, heating roadmaps, and just transition frameworks.
Plan for demand shifts, distributed generation, and peak load impacts across regions.
Assess markets for heat pumps, rooftop solar, retrofits, and smart home technologies.
Support clean energy access, energy poverty reduction, and housing equity policies.
Our mission: consumer-driven transitions, backed by science
At ATUK, we believe the residential energy transition must be grounded in the realities of households — what they can afford, prefer, and access. RASA is built to reflect those constraints and preferences in detail.
Grounded in consumers
Model real socioeconomic and demographic characteristics, not abstract averages.
Shaped by evidence
Use data, simulation, and lifecycle analysis to inform robust decisions.
Equity-sensitive
Ensure vulnerable populations are not left behind in the transition.
Context-specific
Design policies and investments that fit local conditions — not one-size-fits-all.
